Likeurstel Curro van WJ Rozendaal, Kristalunie Maastricht.

Probeer maar eens van de fles af te blijven als hij zo mooi is. Tussen 1931 en 1940 ontwierp Rozendaal prachtige likeurstellen. Dit is de Curro uit 1931 met het zwarte ronde dienblad Cirkel W. (Of is dit dienblad van Copier?). De karaf heeft een licht waasje, maar is gaaf en - al zeg ik het zelf - prachtig. De aanslag bij dit soort karafjes is normaal door de smalle hals die het drogen bemoeilijkte. De kleur is licht fumi met zwarte stop. Karaf, twee glaasjes in één koop: 90€. Dienblad: 50€.

Try resisting the bottle when it is so lovely. Between 1931 and 1940 Rozendaal created beautiful liqueur sets. This is de Curro, created in 1931, with the black round tray Circle W. (or is this tray by Copier?) The decanter has a light haze, but is intact and, even though I say so myself, magnificent. The haze is common with these types of decanters because of the small neck that hindered the drying process. The colour is light fumi with black plug. Decanter with two glasses: 90€. Tray: 50€.

Vaasje Pal, W.J. Rozendaal, 1933, KristalUnie Maastricht: 30€

Tja, het moet hem zijn, denken wij. Of toch niet? Hij lijkt iets hoekiger, maar ja. Het blijft ook handwerk. Goed, een gokje dus, maar mooi is hij. Vaas Pal van W.J. Rozendaal in een herfst-oranje kleur. Vaasje is gaaf en in goede staat: 30€.

We think it is the one. Or not? It seems a little more angular, but hey, it remains hand craft. Okay, it´s a gamble, but it is beautiful. Vase Pal by W.J. Rozendaal in an autumnal orange colour. The vase is intact : 30€.

Laten we eerst maar even vaststellen dat bovenstaande parelgrijze vaasjes vaak onder de naam Copier verkocht worden. Maar het etiket van KristalUnie Maastricht vertelt een ander verhaal. Soms wordt er gemompeld dat Copier ook ontwerpen heeft gemaakt voor KristalUnie.. Maar pas in 1959 werd de KristalUnie overgenomen door Vereendigde Glasfabrieken te Schiedam die in 1939 ook Glasfabriek Leerdam had gekocht. Dat Copier voor het jaar des Heren 1959 heeft ontworpen voor KristalUnie Maastricht lijkt ons onwaarschijnlijk. Maar weet u meer? Mail ons even. Wij denken dat de vaasjes van W.J. Rozendaal zijn. Hij kreeg van zijn directie de opdracht om met een schuin oog naar de activiteiten van zijn concurrent A.D. Copier te kijken. De vazen zijn echt schitterend en zowel los als setje te koop.

Let us first establish that the tin crackle vases above are frequently sold under the name of Copier. However, the KristalUnie Maastricht label tells us a different story. Sometimes we here muttering that Copier has also created some designs for KristalUnie. But the KristalUnie wasn´t taken over until 1959 by Verenigde Glasfabrieken in Schiedam, the same company that, in 1939, also bought the glass factory Leerdam. It seems unlikely that Copier would have designed anything for KristalUnie Maastricht before the year 1959. But if you know more about this, please do mail us. We think the vases are by W.J. Roozendaal. Management instructed him to follow his competitor A.D. Copier´s activities with a slanted eye. The vases are really magnificent and are for sale separate or as a set.

Iran vazen van W.J. Rozendaal, 1931, KristalUnie Maastricht

Iran is een zusje van de Mira vaas, die ook nog optische ribben meekreeg. Het Iran vaasje uit 1931 is er in twee formaten, een grote vaas van bijna 30cm hoog en een vaas van 13cm hoog. De kleur is fumi. De Iran is ook gemaakt in helder glas, alhoewel we die nog nooit hebben gezien.

Iran is a sister of the Mira vase, one that´s got optical ribs as well. The Iran vase was made in 1931 and comes in 2 sizes, a large vase that is nearly 30 cm high and a vase that is 13 cm high. The colour is fumi. De Iran was also made with clear glass, but we have never seen that one.
